The International
Relief Friendship Foundation (IRFF)
provides humanitarian relief to individuals,
families and communities devastated
by famine, natural disasters, disease,
poverty and war. Following Reverend
Moon's vision of living for the sake
of others, IRFF
has brought hope and relief to millions
of people across all national, racial
and religious boundaries.
Since its founding in 1975,
IRFF
has provided humanitarian aid in the
form of food, medical supplies, school
supplies and clothing to people hit
by catastrophe in places like Burkina
Faso, Zaire, Zambia, Mali, Ivory Coast,
Liberia, Uganda, Gambia, Sudan, Cambodia,
Ecuador, Honduras, Peru, Guyana and
the Dominican Republic. More recently,
IRFF
has focused on long-term develop-mental
projects in the areas of health care
and nutrition, literacy, and vocational
and agricultural education.
A distinguishing
point of IRFF
today is its service learning and
volunteer programs. Organizing adolescents,
young adults and adults, IRFF
has developed numerous projects through
which volunteers can give of

themselves
to help others. Through an intentional
learning component, the volunteers also
develop their own character. They learn
skills and gain an awareness of what
they can offer to genuinely serve others.
IRFF
often collaborates with the Religious
Youth Service (RYS),
a project of the International Religious
Foundation (IRF) in its exciting service
learning programs that foster international,
intercultural and interfaith peace and
understanding.
In all of its projects, IRFF's
strength has been the ability to work
together with people as a means to empower
all individuals in order to create an
ethos of living for the sake of others,
regardless of one's circumstance.
To encourage a broad base of participation,
IRFF
has chapters in countries throughout
the world. While support for projects
comes primarily from the United States
and Japan, each chapter can also develop
its own avenues of project support.
IRFF
has also pursued networking and collaboration
with other likeminded organizations
and agencies. IRFF
has worked together with UNICEF, UNESCO,
Caritas, International Red Cross, |
